zs

close filter, synchronous

SYNOPSIS

zs

DESCRIPTION

Like the zx,or close-filter, command, the close-filter, synchronous, command tells the filter process that the current plot is finished, but it also causes C-PLOT to pause until the filter is finished writing to your terminal.

The synchronization option is especially useful for filters that write graphics commands to your terminal over the same serial line as ordinary text, keeping the filter program's graphics commands from getting garbled with text from the plot program.

For example, zqzkds draws the plot, key and date with quiet mode on and prevents the PLOT-> prompt from being issued until the last graphics command has been sent to the terminal. As with zx,a second <return> will switch to text mode.

When running C-PLOT in the background, the synchronization capability is disabled, and zs is equivalent to zx.

(Filters from older versions of the C-PLOT package don't support the synchronous close option and will cause the plot program to hang when you enter zs.Typing ^C will make the plot program continue.)

For general information on graphics filters, see the filters help file.
